RETURNED MAN'S DEATH.

DUNEDIN, Thursday,
A married man, Mr. Joseph Davidson Me Arthur, aged 48, was found dead at his home iii Dunedin to-day with a .22 ealiibre rifle beside him. Mr. McArthur's wife is on holiday in the North Island, and during her absence his parents have called daily at the house with food. On Wednesday he was not seen, but to-day his mother entered the house and fosnd Mr. McArthur lying dead on the bed. Two spent cartridges were found in the room.
Mr. McArthur, who was a returned soldier, is stated to have suffered from being gassed, and he had not been in good health lately.
