TORY CHANNEL MISHAP.

'PLANE REPORTS POSITION.

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Anchor Company's 268-ton motor ship Taupata lias, gone ashore near Te Awaiti whaling station, Tory Channel, Queen Charlotte Sound. She left Nelson for Lvttelton yesterday, but stress of weather forced h»r to put into Picton. Presumably she resumed her journey this morning, but ran aground at 9.20 a.m. A 'plane from Nelson sighted her and reported her position to the company's Wellington agents, T. and W. Young, Limited. They Btate that as far as is known the crew are in no danger, and assistance is being dispatched. The master of the Taupata ia Captain J. A. Hughan, the first officer Mr. R. F. Greenslade, the second officer Mr. E. H. Willson. All are residents of Wellington. The Taupata was. built by G. T. Nicol at Auckland in 1930. The agents later received notice that the Taupata had floated off and was proceeding to Picton.
