YOUNG BOY'S DEATH.
ACCIDENTAL DROWNING.
VERDICT AT DJQUEST
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) GISBORNE, this day. An inquest was held this morninp before the acting-coroner, Mr. C. Blackburn, J.P., regarding the circumstances surrounding the death of Douglas James Brown, aged 8J years, whose body was recovered from the Waimata River on i Tuesday morning. ! Leicester Allan Brown, mechanic, and father of the deceased, said th e family , visited the Waimata River at a spot . known as Hole-in-the-Wall on Mondav. About 11 a.m. deceased was missed, and i when a search failed the police were i <»lled. Dragging operations continued j until o p.m., and were resumed nest ; morning, the body being recovered at I 11 a.m. yesterday. I Witness eaid his son was unable to I swim.
Constable Neale said there were no marks of violence on the body when recovered. The jury returned a verdict of accidental drowning.
