LABOURER CHARGED.

HANDWRITING EVIDENCE. SYDNEY, December 21. . An address written on a receipt book 11 months ago led to a man being charged with bank robbery at the Central Police Court. A handwriting expert (W. F. Ward) said that the writing was identical with that on a visitor's slip handed in at an internment camp on December 2. In both cases aiisee-nden Road was spelt "missiden" Road, with a email "m." George Allen, or Cave, 34, labourer, wae charged with having, at Newtown on or about January 29, broken and entered the Bank of New South Wake and stolen £2205 4/3 in money and other articles, of a total value of £2290 13/. He pleaded not guilty, and was committed for trial, bail being allowed at £1000. "Gave Name of Breen." F. G. Isherwood, carrier, said Allen, giving the name of Breen, had asked him to pick up a couple of cylinders from an oxygen company at Balmain. "He wrote the name of Breen on my receipt book, and gave the address as '30, missiden Road/ Marrickville," eaid Ishervrood. Detective-Constable Aldridge said he saw Allen at an internment camp on December 2. "Allen had visited an internee," said Aldridge. "He filled in » visitor's slip and gave the name of George Marsh, of 32, Miesenden Road, Marrickville, the Missenden being spelt 'mksiden. , " "Found Money in Shop." The writing on the visitor's elip was later compared with that on a receipt book, then in possession of the,police, Aldridge eaid. Detective Hughes said he vieited the bank on January 29, and found pieces of metal burnt out of the walls of the strongroom. In a vacant chop next door he found 12 canvas bags containing £89 16/11 in copper money. Two cylinders, one containing a small quantity" of oxygen, and the other acetylene, were in boxes behind a counter.
