CHRISTMAS IN PRISON.

Men and women inmates of the Auckland Prison took part in a Christmas carol servicc on 'Sunday morning, under the direction of the prison chaplain, the Rev. G. E. Moreton. Visiting soloists were Misses F. White and I. Frost, while items were also given by the Diggle Family String Quartet. Mme. Dunn and Mise M. Frost were accompanists, while the prison organist accompanied the carols. Carols were again sung at Holy Communion on Christmas morning. A special Christmas dinner was served, complete with pudding. Previously, inmates had benefited by a distribution of parcels of cigarettes and tobacco for the men. and cakes, confectionery and flowers for the women, arranged by the Discharged Prisoners' Aid Society. Books, groceries, cakes, and clothing were distributed from R.S.A. headquarters during Christmas week to wives and dependents of the inmates.
