FIRE AT WAIPUKURAU.

WAIPUKURAU, this da v. Fire completely destroyed the totalizator house at the Waipukurau Jockeyed ub at 1.1.j ;,.tn. on Sunday morning. The whole building and its contents were gutted within half an hour. When the alarm was given the flames had a good hold, and it was impossible for the fire brigade to effect a save. The origin of the lirse is unknown, and the police are making investigations. The club was very unfortunate, as all arrangements were completed for the summer meeting to be held to-day. However, officials were «ucces*fnl in "arran" ing for the transfer of the meeting to Hastings, and the programme wiU be held in that centre to-day.
