Several attractive trials were recorded at Ellerslie this morning where all fast work took place on the course proper, 45ft from the The going was excellent and the best efforts were those of Llandaff and Royal Bachelor over half a mile, Cheddington and Silver Quex over live furlongs and Disdain over six, while Baran and Pern put up the 'best figures for a mile.

British Talent opened proceedings by coming home from me five lurlong pout in 1.5. He was running on solidly at the end. The Dude (Speck) finished up his task by covering tne last three furlongs 111 41s. Calula Boy (Gilchrist) ran three furlongs in 37 4-ss. He worked with plenty of dash. Great Swoop (Wilson) had a good deal in reserve throughout six furlongs in 1.23 4-5 and Paper Slipper (A. C. Messervy) ran his last hve furlongs in 1.8 1-5. He was going easily over tlie j last furlong. Aero King (iremain), who got the best of the start, was slightly in front of Kelly (Gilchrist) at the conelusion of four lurlongs in 50 2-se. There wA little between irevace (Mc lavish) and Bide-a-\vee (Kerr) at the conclusion of a null- in 1.48 4-5. After running her nrst tour lurlongn in 55 2-ss, Homily (McKenzie) was under restraint at the end ot seven lurlongs which took 1.35 4-ss. I'his filly is in great order and will probably be sent along faster to-morrow. A nrst-class trial over a mile was that of Jiaian (Howell) and Pern (Farrell), who recorded 1.42 4-5. Baran had a slight advantage at the finish, but Pern was running on in great style, after covering the last six furlongs in 1.17 4-5. The Railway Handicap candidate, Disdain (A. Alesservy), impressed while running six lurlongs in 1.16 4-5. Going easily throughout, Beeswing (Kerr) was timed to run her last six furlongs in 1.23 3-5. Olympus i) cou have improved on his 1.20 1-5 for six furlongs, and Moorsotis I was given useful work, but was not timed, lihe two-year-old Oheddington (Farrell) came home from the five furlong post in 1.2 2-o, time which was not bettered during the morning. Beverley (W. Thomson) was sent a mile and a half, covering the ast round in 2.9 3-5. He was brought home over the last few furlongs by Hotshot (Davrick), the final half mile taking oo 1-os. Auburn Lad (Lamnuck) waa too good for Red Warden IHearn) over half a mile, which he traversed in 51 l-ss. The two-year-old, Marshall Hall (Messervy) was hitting out freely while running three furlongs in 395. This colt has improved sincc he last raced. Worton (Farrell) was being held back to Oragon (Ireland), with Rich Blood (McKenzie) closq up at the end of five furlongs in 1.6. The stablemate, Gay Broney and Bron?e Emerald, were timed to run their last five furlongs in 1.4 4-5, and Indian Sun (Howell) took 40s for his final three furlongs.

Royal Message (Markwick) was clear of Paint (Thomson) at the end of seven furlongs, the last five taking 1.6 3-5. Melvanui (Dowrick) was too good for Every Port (McTavish) over seven furlongs in 1.31, the last five taking 1.6 4-5. The Cup candidates. Dictate (Wilson) and Sly Fox (McKenzie) worked soundly over a round which occupied 2.7. They ran the last six furlongs in 1.21 4-5, and Dictate, who finished in front, was staying on the better of the pair. Ivy Willonyx (D. They were kicked out over the last half furlong, and Nightbeam had a slight advantage over Cillas, though the latter was running on in good style. Maori Star (Hearn) left four furlongs behind in 52 3-ss, and Blonde Princess (Briggs) was going well within herself over five furlongs in 1.5, the jast three in 39 3-ss. Going well within 'themselves throughout, Catalogue (Ireland) and Beau Vite (Wilson) pleased more than Beaupartir (light boy), while traversing a mile in 1.47, the last six furlongs being covered in 1.20 2-5. Catalogue was doing his work in good style at the finish, and Beau Vite also shaped well. Beaupartir was showing signs of soreness after he came in. Land Girl (D. Green) was too good for Royal Huntress (Messervy) at the end of seven furlongs in 1.34 the first two taking 265, and the last half mile 54 4-ss. Going more freely than usual Loyal Grant was timed to run half a mile in 51 3-ss. After Breakfast. Llandaff (Messervy) ran his first furlong in 12 2-5s and was running on nicely at the end of half a mile in 49 4-ss. This time was not bettered. Erndale (Murray) impressed more than Mon Acre (Gilchrist) at the conclusion" of "five furlongs,

which they ran in 1.3 3-5. Over a similar distance Silver Stick (Farrell) was holding Odtaa (Gilchrist) in 1.4. They went fast early, covering their first two furlongs in 24 3-ss. After running his first furlong in 12 3-as Royal Bachelor completed half a mile in 49 4-ss, one of the best efforts over the distance. The two-year-olds Night Pilot (Gilchrist) and Stratford (Caimeron) reeled off half a mile in 525, the last three furlongs taking 39 2-ss. There was very little between them at the post. Cintrace (Ryan), after beginning slowly at the mile post, ran his last seven furlongs in 1.32 3-5. He was assisted over the last part of the gallop by Akanora (Murray), the final half mile taking 545. Ringshot (Dowrick) and Glen Abb (Ritchie) gave a fast exhibition of jumping over four hurdles in the centre. The final gallops will take place on the course proper to-morrow.
