SHOPLIFTER CAUGHT.
FACTORY HAND FINED. A jar of salts, lib of butter, Jib of tea and a tin of polish, of a total value of 5/9, brought a factory hand, Ronald Victor Ogden (33),.t0 the dock in the Police Court this morning. Ogden admitted to the presiding justices that he stole these goods from a city store. Detective-Sergeant Trethewey said yesterday afternoon Ogden was seen by a salesman to place a Jib packet of tea in his pocket. He was taken to the office, where he admitted the theft of the other goods. Ogden was a married man with a child aged three months.
"He is in permanent employment, so there was no excuse for the theft," added Mr. Trethewey. "He had been suspected and a watch was kept on him yesterday. He has one previous conviction, recorded in 1924, but on that occasion the charge was not a serious one."
Ogden was fined £3, or 10 days' impris onment.
