DIVORCE REFUSED.
I OPPOSITION BY WIFE. I A petition by Charles John Renner (Mr. Sullivan) for divorce from his wife, Ada Kllen Renner (Mr. Terry), on the ground of separation for more than three years was dismissed by Mr. Justice Callan in the Supreme Court yesterday after he had heard evidence in which the wife opposed the divorce, alleging that the separation was caused by her husband's wrongful conduct. The evidence for respondent was to the effect that the happiness of the home was disturbed, after 21 years, by the husband introducing to the house a woman friend concerning whom there were discussions and suspicions on the part of the wife. That was eight years ago, and since then there had been two separations of the parties and two reconciliations before the final separation a little over three years ago as a result of their daughter finding in petitioner's pocket a letter addressed to him in endearing terms, and signed "Jessie."
Petitioner said liis friendship with the other woman was of a harmless nature, and the separations had been caused by hi* wife's suspicious nature and prolonged sulking, making his home life unendurable.
His Honor, in giving judgment for the respondent, said that to him the letter was the crux of the case, which led him to believe that the association hetw-een the writer and petitioner was not just a casual one.
