FALSE STATEMENTS.
SOCIAL SECURITY ACT. The first prosecutions of persons for making false statements for the purpose of obtaining benefits under the Social Security Act were brought l>y the Department of Labour before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday. Mr. A. E. Seaton prosecuted. Ronald Stavers Smith and Henry Busby were each fined £5 and costs, and Raymond Leslie Robertson was fined £7 10/ and costs.
