A cable trom Paris says it is semiofficially estimated that French naval patrols either sunk or caused the internment in neutral ports of 110,500 tons of (ierman shipping. It is stressed that, when the vessels have been Mink. the safety of the crews lias been assured. A coinniuni(|ue from the .Ministry of Information slates tli.it the Dutch steamer (iroenlo was taken into custody at a British port. 1" was detained because it was carrying cargo suspected of being contraband. The cargo, which is consigned to Dusseldorf, is being unloaded, and after that the ship will be released. The American steamer Black Osprey has been released after a week's detention under the contraband regulations. None of her cargo was seized. The (ierman radio has announced a contraband list, embracing all war materials, foodstuffs, fodder, sold and silver and textiles of use for military purposes.
