LONDON THEATRE.
NEW NAME THE " OXFORD.' Considerable public interest has been taken in the London Theatre "Name Competition," no less than 27.257 entries ha\ing been received. Amalgamated Theatres, Ltd.. announce that the winner of the competition was <}. C. Lee, of Devonport. The theatre will be renamed the Oxford Theatre.
It is anticipated that the new theatre will be opened in a few weeks. Complete reconstruction costing approximately £10.000 has been carried out during the past few weeks.
T?e|>orts of kiwis from the Ak(» Ake bush have been received on several occasions recently. Mr. C. Cameron, at the end of last week. saw. a kiwi hen and two chicks in s. nest in a log. Residents of the district state that they often hear the cry of the birds «£• night.
