COAL PRICES UP.
PETROL TAX SEQUEL.

PAEROA, Wednesday.
A sequel to the increase in the petrol tax is an increase in the price of coal and firewood in the Paeroa district. The official lists issued by the five coal merchants operating in Paeroa show that for house and kitchen coal the price of one bag has been increased by 4d, two bags by 2d, and three bags by 3d. Coke and firewood have been increased by «Jd a bag, with no reduction for quantities. A representative of the companies stated that the object was to get larger orders and so reduce delivery costs.
