TE RAPA TRACK.

HUNTING BLOOD'S FIVE.

THIS MORNING'S EFFORTS.

WHIRLING AND ROYAL BACHELOR. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star."*) HAMILTON, this day. With a cold north-easterly wind blowing across the course, conditions at To Rapa this morning were somewhat unpleasant, and the going on the No. 1 gram, which was open for fast work, was tne&sy and cutting out. The programme was not an extensive one, two notable absentees this morning being A. Winder's pair, Maori Song and Prince Acre, both of whom are cited as unlikely starters on Saturday. Several interesting efforts were recorded, the best being a smart five furlongs by Hunting Blood, who is to fulfil engagements at the combined hunts* meeting at New Plymouth at the end of the month.

Mayfair (Curran) showed speed in a two furlong daeh along the back, cutting out the distance in 255. The three-year-old Hunting Song filly, who raced unsuccessfully last term, is bearing a solid appearance, and interest will attach to her progress from now on. Royal Bachelor (McKenzie) • and Whirling (Ramsay) were companions over six furlongs, running the first half mile in 53 2-ss, five in 1.7 4-5, and the full distance in 1.22%. Both were travelling within themselves throughout, and should strip in splendid fettle for racing at Ellerslie on Saturday. The year-old Foxsen (Telford) ran to the three furlong post in 42%5. Starbright (J. Mclnally) and Aereman (McKenzie) were practically on" terms at the completion of five furlongs in 1.7 4-5, which was a commendable effort for horses of their class. The best gallop, of the morning, by far, was that of the speedy Hunting Blood (O. Mclnally), who cleared away from Bronze "Step (Rhind) over the deciding stages of five furlongs in 1.5 W. He ran his first three furlongs in 37 1-5% and the half mile in 51 2-ss, which time, under the heavy conditions obtaining; was exceptional. Hunting Blood appears to have come right again, and should win early in the present season. St. Musk (J. Mclnally), accompanied over the first five by Calshot (Telford), ran once round in 2.8 2-5. St. Musk is bearing a healthy appearance, and- is not without prospects in the Pakuranga Hunt Cup. Kittle (Ensor), Rothoon (Gollop) and lekra. (Brown) finished at intervals at the completion of a round in 2.5%. Young Paddon (Long) was not bustled in running to the six furlong post in 1.22. Young Paddon has been doing everything required of him of late, and should prove equal to a solid effort on Saturday. Wvndora (Long) ran five furlones in 1.9 1-5, Sir Lysander (McKenzie) occupying 1.9% for a similar essay. The two-year-old Surpai (Ensor) and* the Foxbridge two-year-old in A. Carmont'e stable (Gollop) raced on terms over two furlongs along the back in 265, and shaped pleasingly in the heavy going.

Dark Rose (C. L. Goulsbro) was schooled over four pony fences and shaped well. Riding engagements include: J. McLaughlin —British Lass; O. Mclnally— Roxy; H. Long—Wyndora, Young Paddoo.
