DAIRY INDUSTRY.
EABT TAMAKI COMPANY. SATISFACTORY FINANCES. Speaking at the annual meeting of the Fast Tamaki Co-oipei'ative Dairy Company yesterday the chairman of directors, Mr. T. D. Ormiston, said that in 6pite of adverse conditions, which had resulted in the output of butter decreasing by 502 tons, a satisfactory financial position had been maintained by the company. The decrease was due to the drought last summer, reductions of herds and the abnormal demands on milk for town eiipply. The estimated pay-out for the season was 16.8188 d, as compared with the actual payout of la.aOQld jast year. Mr. Ormiston said the decrease in the number of suppliers had also been enced by numerous other companies. Many farmers had'gone over to sheep on account of the high labour costs, while other farmers had become associated with the town supply. It was to be expected from the proximity of Fast Tamaki tq the town and the increasing milk consumption that more farmers would send supplies to the city. The report and balancesheet were adopted and the directors commended for their administration. Mr. J. Boss, the retiring director, was returned unopposed. Several suppliers urged the company to take over the control of the cream cartage. Opinion was divided on the suggestion and the view was expressed that the present system of district committees making their own arrangements was the most advantageous. In support of the proposal it was stated that by equalising the charges and spreading them over all snpr pliers the quter districts would be moye inclined to remain as suppliers- The cjiairman said the directors had given consideration to various proposals and had called for a report by the s«*retary. His suggestion that the suppliers await the presentation of the report was adopted.
