LEAGUE FOR PEACE.

OVERSEAS CAMPAIGNS.

AUCKLAND COMMITTEE FORMED.

The usual meeting of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom was held at the Fabian Club, Mrs. Humphreys presiding. Reference was made and regret expressed at the passing of the late Mrs. Evitt, a worker for peace ever since the 'nineties.

In reply to a joint communication from the Peace Pledge Union and the Christian Pacifist Society regarding refugees, the secretary was instructed to inform these associations that the league was working with the committee recently organised in Auckland on behalf of these unfortunate people.

Overseas correspondence, including some of the recent activities of the W.1.L.P.F., which is to hold a meeting of the international executive in Zurich in September, the international peace campaign, the Far Eastern service, the Chinese Defence League, and the peace procession in Holland on Goodwill Day (May 18), in which the New Zealand section was represented, was read and received. In connection with the women's world congress for peace and liberty to he held at Cuba in October, it was decided that a committee be set up in Auckland to deal with the question and a meeting of the executive was appointed for that purpose. The Auckland branch of the League of Nations Union having definitely decided against organising a branch of the international peace campaign in New Zealand, it was decided that other steps be taken in this connection, and a resolution to that effect was carried unanimously.
