British First Line Is Blood Transfusion Reserve.
FIRST 100,000 VOLUNTEERS. British Official Wireless. (Received !)..'K> a.m.) KUGBY, August 13. Within a month of the inception of the National Emergency Blood Transfusion Scheme the first 100,000 volunteers have been registered and listed. An official said yesterday that the first line of defence against death in aitraids had been established. London, he said, was divided into 10 sectors for the purpose of compiling the register and in several of these the quota, \aijing from 0000 to 10,000, had been exceeded. The authorities were now registering reserves.
Nearly half the volunteers have "universal" blood in the category which is most useful tor general transfusions.
