Some 2700 provisional officers of the civil war, and 100 naval students, have been sent to schools for training under civil war generals to form the nucleus of a large force of technicians who will he thoroughly trained in all branches of defence.
The new members of the Cabinet took the oath of allegiance to General Franco, after which they issued a joint statement. This said that the Government's principal object was to achieve the moral unity of Spaniards and to affirm to the world Spain's power and freedom. This demanded the mobilisation of faith and work.

The president of the British Chamber of Commerce in Madrid, Mr. Charles Kay, was arrested in a round-up ot those judged to have been hostile to the Nationalists during tlie civil war. Subsequently Mr. Kay was released.
