U.S.A. TENNIS UPSET.

DAVIS CUP DOUBLES CANDIDATES BEATEN. NEW YORK, August 13. In the quarter-finals of the Ryt tournament doubles Mako and Mulloy beat Parker and McNeill, 4—6, 7 —5, 6 —4. Since Parker and McNeill are candidates for the United States' Davis Cup doubles assignment their defeat has increased captain Walter Pate's dilemma. Fn the remaining two singles against Cuba the Australians won in straight sets, thus qualifying (by five rubbers to nil) to meet Yugoslavia in the inter-zone final at Boston from August 24 to 26. The winner plays United States in the challenge round at Philadelphia from September 2 to 4.
