GENEROUS PARENTS.

DOMINION ROAD SCHOOL.

TOTAL OF £585 CONTRIBUTED.

After an eight-weeks' intensive campaign, tile Dominion Road School Queen Carnival was brought to a close on Saturday afternoon. With an objective of £200 for the erection of a dental clinic and swimming pool, the grand total of £585 was achieved. Parents and friends assembled in large numbers at the- school to await the final figures, which disclosed a victory for Pat Greig, representing standards 3 and 4.

Scenes of intense enthusiasm marked the closing stages of the carnival, particularly when the final total of £585 was announced.

Mr. »McCowan, headmaster of the school, expressed his gratification at the wonderful response made by the parents, stressing the fact that the results far exceeded the most sanguine expectations. It has been suggested that any surplus might be used for the erection of an assembly hall and gymnasium, and this matter will be discussed at a meeting of parents and supporters to be held this week.
