BAND PROPOSAL.
PURCHASE OF PROPERTY. SITE FOR FUTURE THEATRE. (From Our Correspondent.) HAMILTON', Friday. In order to acquire a property in Orantham Street with the object n< era-tinjf n theatre at a later datp, rhe Hamilton Citizens' Bhiml has decided M borrow £1100 on debentures. The property, which includes a building, will cost £1000. and it is proposed to spend another £100 on improvements to 'he building. Mr. T. .T. P>. Mason, secretary of the band, said the debentures would !•■• issued on the whole of the assets of the band, including the instruments, which cost £!>BO, and which were insured f.ir £S.-,0. Debentures of £10 would be issued on demand and it was intended to pay off the whole of the capital in two years. The present, building on the property will be used for a band practice room and will also be made available for philharmonic and operatic societies," said Mr. Mason. "We hope later to pull down the present building and erect a theatre which will be available to these societies both for practices and staging piodii"tions."
