£4000 A TEAR MANAGER.
(Received 0.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Mr. Harold W. Clapp, chairman of the Victorian Railways Commissioners, lias been appointed general manager of the Commonwealth aircraft construction undertaking for a term of five years at a salary of £4000. Announcing the appointment, the Minister for Supply, Air. R. G. Casey, said the Commonwealth was fortunate in obtaining the services of Mr. Clapp. He will control production of the Bristol Beaufort fighting • 'planes, which the Commonwealth intends to manufacture for the Koval Australian Air Korce.
