HAPPY TRAVELLING.

BE NATURAL AND FRIENDLY,

Many people who travel for the first time could learn much from such nn experienced globe trotter as Mrs. W. Cameron, who passed through Auckland to-day in the Monterey. The secret of happy travelling, Mrs. Cameron said, is to meet everyone with a cheerful word, expect the best possible treatment, nnd be fair and just to all who contribute to one's comfort.

"We have been travelling for 10 years," Mrs. Cameron said, ''and on ships and trains, in hotels and flats, we have the best possible time. Many people make the mistake of trying very hard to impress stewards and porters, and the general run of people one meets when travelling, with their importance and sophistication. It is a big mistake. The average man used to meeting as many people as stewards do can pick you in a minute. He knows your bank balance, and your ancestors back three generations. You can't 'put it across him,' and a person who poses as something he isn't gets a bad time. Be yourself, and be friendly. That is my advice to all who travel,"

This is Mrs. Cameron's tenth time round the world, so she ought to know! "1 am looking forward to a holiday In San Francisco," Lady Barraclough said. "Mrs. Falkiner and Miss Lawrv are going to Xcw York, and Miss Mills is going to England."

Lady Barraclough's interests In Sydney are largely in University circlet, as her husband is a professor there.
