CUTTER WRECKED

FATE OF LAND'S END.

ROTORUA, this day.
Private cabled advice has been re. ceived by Mr. D. J. Baker, of Rotorua, from hie son, Mr. Desmond Baker, -who was a member of the crew, that the 54ft auxiliary cutter Land's End, which -sras on a voyage from New Zealand to Sooth Africa, has been "wrecked.
Although no details of the mishap are given, the cable was dis|>atehed from Misima, New Guinea, and stated that all were safe.
The Land's End wa*> owned by a .South African mine owner named Jeffries, and was on a cruise of the world. The crew, in addition to the owner and hie wife, comprised a Waiuku bov and Mr. Baker. The cutter left Auckland-last '
February and the plan was to spend about six months in South African waters.
