GIRLS VISIT COLLEGE.

COUNTRY VISITORS' PROGRAMME. A visit to the New Zealand Shipping Company's liner Rimutaka was paid yesterday morning by the country girls who are at present attending the educational week arranged by the Wnitemata provincial executive of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union and the Auckland Federation of Women's Institutes.

In the afternoon the girls were taken to the Auckland Teachers' Training College. Here they were welcomed by the principal, Mr. I). M. Rae, and' the women's warden. Miss K. Bayne. Activities in connection with "assembly day"' were held in the library, and the college orchestra, under the leadership of Mr. Howie, played several items. Several college songs were sung.

A short addrese on art in the home was given liy the art lecturer at the college, Mr. R. Donn. In the course of a visit to the United States. Mr. Donn had visited several schools and colleges and he described the manner in which children were encouraged to express themselves in art.

A visit was also paid by the girls to the arts and crafts room, after which they were entertained at afternoon tea by Mr. Rae and Mrs. F. Harrison. At the close of the afternoon Miss J. Jamieson (Bay of Islands), on behalf of the country ".iris, thanked Mr. Rae for the hospitality that had been extended to ♦ hem. The president of the .Auckland Federation of Women's Institutes, Mrs. A. Blackmore. and Mr. Calder MacKay also made brief speeches.
