ADZES FOR MUSEUM.

Obtained from primitive hill tribes in the mandated territory of New Guinea, about 150 stone adzes ha.ve been «ent to the Auckland War Memorial Museum by Mr. Frederick K. G. Muuuerried. a scientist who is a resident of Mexico. They are part of a collection he made in Xew Guinea, the remainder having ! >een given to the Sydney Museum.

Apparently Mr. Mullerried ' obtained most of the adzes on the exchange priniciple, the natives much preferring used safety razor blades than the adzes. Having many blades in his possesion, he was able to trade effectively.
