YANKEE CLIPPER.
Departure From France With
7701b Of Mail.
DELAY TO BRITISH SERVICE.
Independent Cable Service. (Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, May 25. The Yankee Clipper took off from Marseilles at 8.1.5 a.m., carrying 7701bs of mail. A statement was made in the House or Commons by the Under-Secretary for Air, Captain H. H. Balfour, on plans for the commencement of the Xorth Atlantic: service by a British operating company, says a British official wireless message. Captain Balfour explained that its postponement had been necessitated by a desire in the interests of operational safety and efficiency to give a 400 hours" flight test to the engines and to carry through certain alterations to the fuelling system that had been found desirable as the result of practical tests. It was hoped the service would commence in July. :
