BOWLING COUNCIL.

AUCKLAND CANDIDATES. RKMITS FOR AXXI'AL MEETIXG. ■ jfessrs. W. J. Truscott aii.l A. K. Whit-1 ten, the present Aiicklaml iiiembcrs of the Xcw Zealand Bowling Council, have been nominated for re-election as two of, the seven Xoitli Island members for the coming year. If there are more than seven nominated, the election will take place between May 18 and May 24 inclusive. The annual meeting of the council is to be held in Wellington on June 28. Several matters of local interest were introduced and debated at the Auckland meeting, but the chair-man. Mr. E. W. Inder, who was, presiding in the absence of Mr. \V. J. Truscott in Wellington, rnlcd that decisions must be held over until the annual meeting. These included the conditions for qualifying for postsection play in the Easter tournament and the centre pairs championship, the allocation of club quotas for the pennant competition, and the scheme proposed last year for altering the whole pennant (system. By introducing them at this meeting the various clubs will now have the opportunity to discuss them at their own annual meetings and the delegates will | then be able to vote accordingly at the annual meeting of the centre.

However, urgency was accorded to two remits to be sent to the annual meeting of the council, in order that they can be discussed during the coming eight weeks by r:lubs, centres and councillors. The remits were as follows, and both were cartied unanimously:—

(1) That this centre recommends the council to revert to the system oi playing ' the singles championship in sections of six (instead of the present system of the two-life throughout), so that every competitor will be assured of at least five games (instead of only two) before being eliminated. The mover maintained that the section system, adopted on the recommendation of the Auckland Centre five years ago, proved far more popular and took no longer. (2) That this centre recommends the council to cable its representatives on the International Bowling Board, instructing them not to support the proposal that the Dominions should press for equal representation on the board with the four associations in Great Britain. It was argued that this proposal would antagonise the bowlers of the Home countries, with no corresponding advantage, for none of the Dominions had even now fully availed themselves of the representation already allowed. ONEHUNGA CLUB. Skits to enter teams for the Onehunga Bowling Club's May tournament, to commence at 9 a.m. to-morrow:—Lancaster, Hosking. Oeare. Caterall (Carlton). Wright. Fisher (Epsom).
