EXCELLENT ENTRIES. TWENTY DUALLY ENGAGED. THE AUCKLAND MEETING. Nominations for the cliief events to be decided at the (.Treat Northern meeting of the Auckland Racing Club, to be held at Kllerslie on June 3, 5 and 7, closed yesterday, and an excellent response has j been made by owners, there being 297 entries for the six events as against 194 last year. There are 37 in the Great Northern Hurdles, including Erination, who won last year. Mio Lume, winner of the Brighton Hurdles at Ellenlie at Easter, Silver Sight, a good performer in the South Island, John Charles, who won the Winter Hurdles at Trentham a couple of seasons ago. Esteem, Red Sun and Tutor. The Great Northern Steeplechase ha* attracted 36 compared with 27 last season, when Valpeen was successful. He is engaged again, as is Bryce Street and Erination. who ran second and third to him respectively. Erination went on to Trentham to win the Wellington Steeplechase, while Bryce Street was second in the Grand National Steeplechase to Clarion Call, with Valpeen third. Irish Comet, who won in and Allegretto, who wae thin! that year, have again been nominated, as has Santoft, a Wellington Steeplechase winner.
