FARMHOUSE DESTROYED.
FAMILY'S HEAVY LOSS. (By Telegraph.-—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. Practically nothing was saved from tlie home of Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Preecott, of Ruakaka. when fire destroyed their six-roomed house at 4.30 p.m. yesterday. Mr. pnd Mrs. Prescott, with their family, had heen in Whangarei during the day and about 3 p.m. Mr. Preseott returned to the farm alone. Together with hie brother-in-law he went to the milking shed a quarter of a mile away and at 4.30 ] .m. noticed smoke coming from, the house. Bv the time they reached the | dwelling ilie flames had a good hold and despite the efforts of neighbours the house was destroyed. Only a bed, some pictures and some bedding were saved. The fire started in the wash-house adjoining the house, where a fire had been burning under a copper during the day. Tlie house was owned by the estate of Mr. Robert Preseott, father of the occupier.
