SATIRICAL PLAY.
SUCCESS OF "THE WOMEN."
Wide interest has been manifested in Clare Boothe's witty modern satire of feminine society, "The Women," which will be presented in the course of its season at His Majesty's Theatre this evening. Irene Purcell, the distinguished New York actress, heads the cast, which is made up of 40 women. Especial interest is also attached to the performance of Mary Dees, who earned prominence on the death of the late Jean Harlow, for whom she acted as "double" in the latter stages of the film "Saratoga." She has an unsympathetic role as Crystal, a glamorous blonde, win* ■becomes the "other woman" in heroine's married life, but she handles it convincingly and with understanding. Aβ the story unfolds, the effects of the malicious <joesip of a group of society women lead to the only decent character ir. the play being driven to the divorce court. Dorothea Dunstan, a talented Australian juvenile actress, is excellent as the daughter of the heroine. Booking arrangements are advertised.
