PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD.

The fortnightly meeting of the Papatoetoe Town Board took place laest night, when Mr. L. Kendell was in the chair. Traffic Report.—The ti-nffic inspector reported having taken four cases on behalf of the board, and fines amounting to ££ 10/ . were collected. He tendered an apology for absence from the meeting. Accounts.—lt was reported that the overdraft stood at £2801 at March 31, and with a sum of £121 outstanding the position was really £2080, as compared with £2027 the same date a year ago. Cycle Shed.—The postmaster applied for permission to erect a cycle shed adjoining the post office. Hi« application was referred to the building inspector, several members disapproving of tin sheds being erected in the district. Centennial Memorial.—A suggestion that the tennis courts he removed to land adjoining the - recreation reserve, and a scheme for beautifying the entrance to the reserve as a centennial memorial for the district, were deferred for further consideration pending suitable financial arrangements 'being made. Health Report.—The health inspector's annual report showed conditions in the district to be very favourable, but he recommended more up-to-date by-laws, as the existing ones were inadequate. • Museum Levy.—The War Memorial Museum Council advised the board that its contribution would be £59 for the coming year, based upon an estimated population of 2380.
