KING THEO PLEASES.

ROYAL TRAY'S EFFORT.

There were not many gallope at Avondale this, morning, where both, the course proper, on which the hurdles were 36ft put, and the plough was open.

On the course proper High Delight (G. Cameron) and Royal Tray (Gaughey) were associated over four furlongs in 535. They completed the last three furlongs in 39 2-5s and both could have done better, particularly Royal Tray. ,

On the plough King Theo (G. Cameron), Silver Eagle (Gillan) and Paso Robles (Caughey) jumped away at the seven furlong post and came home in 1.32 3-5. At the end of the first four furlongs,'run in 51s, Paso Robles was six lengths in front of his companions. They finished ' together, with King Theo going particularly well.

Erndale was let off with light work in the centre. He has improved considerably during the , last week, and it-will be interesting to see how he accomplishes. his final trial to-morrow.. L. Clifford will ride him in the Easter Handicap.

Eastern Heir is a likely starter at Ellerslie on Saturday, but at present no definite arrangements have been made for a rider.
