NEW WOMEN'S CLUB.

MEMBERS GATHER.

HOUSE COMMITTEE ELECTED.

A capacity audience of members and friends gathered at the Xew Women's Club rooms for the monthly social afternoon. The vice-president, Mrs. A. Gladding, presided. A message of sympathy from members was extended to the president, Mrs. W. B. Darlow. whoso absence from the club was due to illness. Mrs. A. E. Robinson, delegate to the National Council of Women, gave her report of the business put through at their last meeting, and commented on decisions reached there. A musical programme arranged by Mrs. D. McDonald followed. Vocal solos were given by Mrs. F. Hobday and Mrs. (.. Rough; elocutionary items and monologues by Mrs. Ir. Melles and Miss Betty Birch-, pianoforte solos by Mrs .Harper White. The accompanist was Mrs. Harpei White. Miss Stella Zahara gave an interesting exposition of modern creative dancing as taught in Central Europe. Following a demonstration of the graded series of physical culture exercises on which the accomplishment was based. Miss Zahara concluded her lecture demonstration with three uni<|iie dances. They were "Priestess." a religious study; "Futility."' depicting the despair of the driven refugees of Centra] Europe; and a gay interpretation of "Peter Pan."

The election of the house committee for the ensuing year resulted in the appointment of Mrs. W. Tugby as convener, with Mrs. S. M. Hamilton, A. Allen, Mrs. Leith Elliott. Mrs. H Bishop, Mrs. C. F. Goodridge, Mrs. Forster Allan, Mrs. 0. Kiddjy. Mrs. M. Dixon, and Mrs. Searli. Hostesses for the day were Mrs: L. Howden and Mrs. Wild.
