WAITEMATA GARDENS.
SOCIETY'S POINTS COMPETITION
The large gathering of members of the Waitemata Horticultural Society .in the Returned Soldiers' Hall, at NOrthcote,- this week, enjoyed an address on "Sweetpea Culture," by Mr. A. C. Pye, president of the Auckland Horticultural Society. The vice-president, Mr. J. L. Hanna, was tha chairman.
The judges of the members' points competition were Messrs. D. P. O'Leary and A. E. Harding, whose awards were:
Flowers and Pot Plants.—Mrs. E. A. Campbell and Mies J. Geddes, 10 points each; Mesdames P. Robertson> A. Oldbury, D. M. Lawson, A. E. Harding, Misses M. E. Shutes and R. Collins, 9 points each; Mesdames T. Y. Barclay and R. F. Featherstone, 7 points each; Mr. F. U. Irving, 6 points.
, Fruit and Vegetables.—Mesdames J, Dicksoii; A. E. Harding, Miss M. E, Shutes, 9 points each; Mrs. E. A. Campbell, Dr. C. W. Parr and Mr. F. U. Irvine, 8 points each.
Mr. D. P. O'Leary congratulated the members on staging such creditable exhibits notwithstanding the dry season, and said it was quite encouraging to see such a good display.
