DOCTORS OPPOSED.

SOCIAL SECURITY SCHEME. FEELING IX HAWKE'S BAY. (By Telegraph.-Preei Association.) HASTINGS, Tuesday. Members of the Hawke's Bay division of the British Medical Association are reported to be unanimously opposed to the social security scheme,* which, it ie understood, they will not work under at present. When inquiries were made it w»e ascertained that the medical practitioner* of the province arc probably stronger in their opposition to the echenie than medical men elsewhere in the Dominion. The Hawke's Bay division, however. has decided to abide bv the decision of the central branch of * the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, which up to the present has refused to come under the scheme. It was pointed out that the doctors in the province held no objection to social security, but were definitely opposed, to the principle of a universal echenie. They are ready to support a scheme requiring them to help those who need help, but do not believe in forcing evervone to come under the scheme.
