CASHBOX DISAPPEARS. DAYLIGHT ROBBERY. AT MOUNT ALBERT GARAGE. l A daring robbery was carried out early yesterday afternoon when a cashbox containing about £9 was stolen from a cupboard in the office of Mr. T. S. Sampson's garage and service station, 32, Richardson Road, Mount Albert. Mr. Sampson and his son were absent in the city when the robbery occurred, a youth of 16 being in charge of the premises. This assistant was attending to a customer in front of the garage when a man whom he did not know inquired if he might use the telephone in the office. Permission was given and the stranger entered the office. A few minutes later the youth entered the office and went to the cupboard where the cashbox was kept to obtain some change. He found that the cashbox had disappeared. So had the stranger, who, it is believed, left by a rear door. The police were informed and search of the locality was made but no trace of the stranger could be found.
