WOMEN'S DIVISION. ' ANNIVERSARY. CELEBRATED. •'• .''-.•■: ' ■ • ' ■ : To celebrate the seventh birthday of the Waitemata provincial executive of the Women's Division of the Farmers' I Union, a function was held at,the Milne •and Choyce -Reception Hall yesterday. " The Dominion president, Mrs. J. C. Wickliam, of Wanganui, was guest of honomj: and the president of the exct-.i-, ■ tive, ■ Mrs. Xoel Adams, presided. . Representatives of 20 branches were .present.' ' ;■'' ';. ' , ' -..In an address, Mrs. Wickliam praised • the work of the executive during the .seven years since it had been formed and made special reference to the activities of Mrs. Adams and Mrs. J. T. F. Mitchell, conference delegates. In discussing the rest" home, which wili be opened; next week at Palmerston, Mrs. Wickliam said that the homo was not to be considered as a paying proposition, but; as a continuance of the division's humanitarian wofk. ".It-would not be a convalescent home, "but. a'rest' house, and would be in charge of two division housekeepers, who would understand the needs of country women.. Adult Education. '.Mrs. Wickliam also, spoke of the growth of the housekeeping* service and ;of. 'the &uccess : of'the girls' educational XeeK held'annually.;'These activities of the division had been most successful. i!He ;said that: ;in fut'ure;.adult education .would be. dealt with.and instanced the three ■ weeks' educational course for country girls held-recently at Massey College.
