SELECTION NEXT WEEK 1 * An announcement as to the nominee selected to represent the workers at the twenty-fifth session of the'lntornationnl Labour Conference at Geneva in .lime next is expected in Auckland Labour circles next week. The nominees are Messrs. .T. Pnrtell and T. Stanley, Auckland Union secretaries; J. W.* fvay, of Wellington; J. Roberts, of Christchurch; and J. Robin--6011, of Dunedin. • Voting closes on. Mou--1 day next, with the Labour Department in Wellington, the system adopted being that each union with more than-.'fifty; e members has one vote and.organisations ■ with mora than this number one vote 1 for each complete fifty members. r ,By article 388 of the Treaty'of Ver-. 3 sailles each .member of the League of 3 Nations undertakes to nominate non- ' Government delegates chosen in agrcei ment with the industrial organisations 1 which are most representative of cm--1 plovers or work people, as the case may be. Mutters for discussion are:—Technical ! and vocational education and apprenticci ship; the regulation of contracts of cm- • ployment of indigenous workers; recruiting, placing and conditions of labour (equality of treatment) of migrant i workers; a regulation of hours of work and rest periods of professional drivers (and their assistants) of vehicles engaged in road transport; generalisation of the reduction of hours of work in industry, commerce and offices;'and the 'reduction of hours of work in coal mines.
