NATIONAL DEBT.
Mr. Barclay, M.P., in his address at Whangarci, slated that tlic present Govern' nient had paid .£5,000.000 off our national debt in its three years of olliee. It would ha very intoiostiiifr if Mr. Barclay would *hoW how and when this reduction was made, because, according to the Year Book and aliso according to Mr. XnehVs last Budget statement, our national debt has been increased materially by the present Government—not decreased. The previous Government reduced the debt by over a million —that was the last reduction. AJiX. -
