PAPER MILLS COMPANY. NEIGHBORING: HOSTEL; (By Telegraph— Press Association.) PALMERSTON: NORTH, Thursday. Evidence given : in the. Whakatane Magistrate's Court in a case in which Europeans were charged with supplying liquor to Maori women was referred to in a statement made by Mr. H. A. Horrpcks, managing director of Whakatene Paper Mills, Limited to-night. "The residence or hostel where this party was held happens to adjoiu the paper mills' property," said Mr. Horrocks, "but we had no jurisdiction over itj, and the management of the paper mills is not in any way responsible for the conduct of .this accommodation house. ■ It is-not on our property at all, but on the adjoining property owned by the old flax mills." -.; . : "■'■.
