JANUARY WEATHER.
COLD AND WINDT MONTH.
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
WELLINGTON, this day.
Dry conditions prevailed for most of January, which was a. cold and windy, but sunny month, states the monthly report issued by the Dominion meteorologist. Pastures showed little growth, but wind and sun hardened up available supplies, so that stock are now in good condition. , Some fruit and crops suffered from the wind, which, however, was at the same time unfavourable to pests of all kinds. Heavy falls of rain were reported in the Auckland province and in the area northward from Kawhia and Rotorua the totals exceeded the average. In the Far North scarcely any rain fell until near the end of the month. Temperatures were very much below normal and there wae lees bright sunshine than usual.
