PLACING OF POLES.
MINISTER DISGUSTED

CHRIS'rCHURCH, Wednesday. An undertaking that a line of electric power poler? erected on McCormack's Bay causeway would be taken down and rebuilt in a position that would not restrict the carriageway was given by the Minister of Public Works, the lion. R. Semple, when a deputation from the Chriistchurch City Council waited on him.
"Right at the start I want to confers my complete ignorance that these polee had been erected in their present position," said the Minister. "I have seen them and I am amazed that they should have been put there. As head of the Department I have to accept responsibility for the mistake that has been made, and aleo responsibility for the cost of the work that will be involved in replacing'the poles. "I am dhsgupted." added the Minister. "Someone has blundered, and blundered badly. A further investigation is called for. I am not going to leave those death traps there. The polee will be shifted, and that is all there ie about It."
