THEFT CHARGE FAILS.
VALUABLE PEARL NECKLACE. After a retirement of just over two hours, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty in the case in which Elizabeth Ellen Goodhue, aged 19, was charged in the Supreme Court before Mr. Justice Fair, with the theft of a pearl necklace valued at £265, the property of Lady Allen, of Remuera. The theft was alleged to have takon place on August 17 ill a private hospital where Lady Allen was a patient. Mr. V. R. Meredith, Crown Prosecutor, conducted the case for the Crown, while Mr. Henry appeared for the accused.
