BIG PARADE.

CENTENNIAL FEATURE. FIRMS PROMISE FLOATS. A pood response has been received to the request made to city firms that they should supply floats for the Centennial Procession which will be one of the major efforts of Auckland in celebrating the first 100 years of Xew Zealand's history as a British community. Many have promised to consider the question favourably and a number of organisations have already promised definite support. With tfie platinum for the occasion now developing rapidly, further calls will be made on city firms within the next few days when definite decisions will be asked. Floats have been promised to the committee by the Auckland SawmilletV Association (2), the Colonial Ammunition Company, Milne and Choyce. Limited, the Farmers' Trading- Company, the Post and Telegraph Department and the Xew Zealand Government Railways. Various local bodies and provincial centres are also interested and will probably supply floats. Among the suggestions is one that Rotorua should supply two floral floats, one representing the Pink and White Terraces, and one of the Polmtu Geyser. The Defence Department and the Navy will supply marching units, with mechanised equipment, and possibly floats, and support has also been promised by the Hoy Scouts. Girl Guides, Girls' Life Brigade. Boys' Brigade and the R.iS.A. It is expected that all available bands will be required for the parade, and several have already offered their services.
