MANCHU PRINCESS.

SPY FOR JAPANESE. REARED AMOIW3 INVADERS. ATTACKED BY CHINESE. (By a Special Correspondent.) HONGKONG, January 22. Miss Yoehiko Kawashima, famed as an alleged Japanese spy and the cousin of the Emperor Kanjr*e of the puppet State of Manehukuo, was severely attacked by four Chinese in Tientein recently, but is expected to recover.

Miss Kawarshinia, sometimes referred to as the Mata Hari of the Far East, was attacked while she was visiting a friend, Mrs. Wang Chu-lin, wife of a millionaire trader who was murdered last December. The Japanese girl wae taken unconscious to hospital where she was registered under a fictitious name. Mrs. Wang was killed in the attack. Mis* Kawashima. active on behalf of the Japanese in Shanghai in 1032, is the proprietress of a Chinese restaurant and is the daughter of the late Prince Sα of the Miinchu Dynasty, who fled to Port Arthur in 1912. She was reared and educated in .Japan and married a Mongol prince, whom she later divorced. She often disguised heiself as a man, probably for espionage reasons.
