Finding the Word Couples

A Popular Competition Word coupling has long been a favourite pastime with Budgetites, so it is not surprising that Peter Pan was snowed in with entries for our last contest. When the time came to choose the twenty-four best, however, the judge found himself faced with an almost stupendous task. More than fifty per cent of the entries were entirely correct and it could at once be seen that not all of these could be given prizes. Contestants will always remember that the editors decision must be accepted as final and in cases where there are ties the judge must exercise his right to choose the neatest of the correct entries when awarding the prizes. This was, indeed, an occasion when the judge would apply this rule, and consequently the prizes are awarded this week to those who sent in the neatest and most careful work. Here is the list of the twenty-four lucky ones:—
