THIS MORNING'S WORK.
ON THE COURSE PROPER. The course proper at Avondale, on which the poles were 70ft out, was available this morning, but only candidates for the Botorua meeting worked fast. The going was good. Paso Robles (Peters), Silver Eagle (Caughey), in the centre, and High Delight (Parsons) jumped off at the sixfurlong post, the first-named showing a lot of speed early. They ran the first two furlongs in 27s and came home well over the last three furlongs in 402-os, taking 1 21 1-5 for the full journey. They finished in a line and could have done slightly better. Rival (Parsons} went away from a etanding start a chain behind the fivefurlong poet and, distamie, he recorded'l.7 3-5 for the full journly.-He began well, running the first two in 5o 4-ss, but was loafing over the final stages. Vaalso (Goldfinch), went a round, increasing 'his pace at toe went. Hβ is a lazy worker by himself. Master Appellant (P. Fearn) was sent over eight furlongs averaging about los to the furlong, but finished a bit faster up the straight. King Theo worked slowly over two rounds, with a brush up- the straight. Erndale, after pace work, ran home over the last three furlongs in 40 2sm. He u cominc on well. ._ Others to do useful work were Popeye, Royal Fawkes, Empire Action, Ventre a Terre, OraHy and Phildale.
