BIRKENHEAD ACTIVITIES. The Mayoress of Birkenhead, Mrs. E. J. Osborne, presided last night at the first meeting since tlie Christmas vacation of the Birkenhead committee of the Pliinket Society, the president, Mrs. Krie Chambers, being on holiday in the South Island. Tlie «*eeretarial duties were undertaken l>y Mrs. He<lley V. (laymi)n ill the absence of Mrs. Leonard T. Hayiniin. The report of thp nurse, Aliss A. F. White, showed that in Dec-ember 208 visits were made to the Birkenhead Plllllket room (122 adults, lilt babies, 30 older children), and 15 homes were vUited. In .January the visits to the room were 221 (1O."> adults, 88 babies, 28 older children), and 38 visits to homes, including eight new cases. The convener, Mrs. B. L. Brown, provided voluntary motor car transport for the nurse during December and January. She was reJieved by Mesdanies L. T. Hayman and R. Usher for two day*.
