NO CONFIDENCE.

IN UNION SECRETARY* MOTION AT MEETING. HAMILTON AIXEGATIONS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. The alleged dictatorial attitude of the Auckland General Labourers' Union was the subject 1 of strong criticism at a mass meeting of Hamilton. members last evening. Mr. H. Davis and several other speakers expressed dissatisfaction with the present control, p.nd claimed that labourers would have to fight the Communist element which controlled the activities at the Auckland headquarters. A unanimous desire to retain democratic control of union activities was voiced, and a motion of no confidence in Mr. T. Stanley, secretary of the union, was carried unanimously. It was decided to urge the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. M. J. Savage, to permit the registration of the South Auckland Labourers' Union to release local members from Auckland control. When the decision at the Hamilton meeting was referred to him, Mr. Stanley said he knew the meeting was being "held last evening, but the Auckland union t ignored it because the individuals wfto called it were not members of the union.

"We are carrying out the instructions of the New Zealand Federation of Labour in dealing with the Hamilton situation, ,, added Mr. Stanley. "The position is that Hamilton's application for the registration of a separate union, which has been on the cards for two years, has been turned down by the Registrar of Unions."
